Organized by the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Forum Macau) and supported by Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region - Economic and Technological Development Bureau, the finals of the “929 Challenge” competition were held on November 9 (Saturday) at the Sino-Portuguese Complex in Macao. The event aimed to promote innovation and cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries through competitions.

The Plant Protection UAV team of Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) secured the top distinction in the university category, showcasing the professional knowledge and practical skills in innovation and entrepreneurship of MUST students. The team members included Yang Tianhao, Liu Peiheng and Zhang Yinqi from the second year of the School of Business, and Wang Qinyi from the second year of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management.

MUST team receives the top distinction in the university category

This competition attracted over 320 application projects from Hong Kong, Macao, Mainland China, Portugal, Brazil, Mozambique, and other regions. Sixteen teams were shortlisted for the finals, including eight university student teams and eight start-up company teams. The participating teams presented innovative project plans across various fields such as energy and healthcare.

In the university category, Macao excelled with MUST taking first place for an AI project aimed at identifying pests and diseases in agriculture. The University of Macau placed third, while the second place went to Shenzhen University.
