MUST Joins the UK-China Humanities Alliance for Higher Education
On November 15, 2024, Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) was officially welcomed into the UK-China Humanities Alliance (UKCHA) during the Executive Council Meeting at the University College London (UCL) in United Kingdom (UK). MUST President, Chair Professor Joseph Hun-wei LEE, addressed the meeting via video. Chair Professor Zhang Hongming, Dean of the University International College (UIC) and Director of the Educational Development Centre at MUST, attended the meeting on behalf of MUST. The Executive Council of UKCHA unanimously approved of MUST’s membership and endorsed MUST’s proposal to host the 2025 Annual Conference of UKCHA.
2 CUHK distinguished scholars awarded BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize 2024
Two scholars from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) have been honoured with the BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize (STIP) 2024. Professor Siew Ng, Croucher Professor in the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics, and Assistant Dean (Development) of Faculty of Medicine; and Professor Chen Shih-Chi, Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering, were recognised for their outstanding scientific research achievements in the fields of “Life and Health” and “Advanced Manufacturing” respectively. Each awardee will receive a prize of HK$2 million.
MUST Team Wins top 929 Challenge Accolades
Organized by the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Forum Macau) and supported by Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region - Economic and Technological Development Bureau, the finals of the “929 Challenge” competition were held on November 9 (Saturday) at the Sino-Portuguese Complex in Macao. The event aimed to promote innovation and cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries through competitions.
UM students win award at international genetic engineering competition
A team of undergraduate students from the University of Macau (UM) participated in the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) Competition 2024 held in Paris, competing against teams from top universities around the world. They won a silver medal for their research on developing a novel exosome-based therapeutic approach to target cancer cells. This is the sixth consecutive year that UM has received an award in the iGEM Competition.
The 2nd Global Youth Cross-Border E-Commerce Digital Marketing Training Camp is officially launched
The 2nd Global Youth Cross-Border E-Commerce Digital Marketing Training Camp, co-organized by Yuehai Subdistrict Office and College of International Exchange of Shenzhen University, was launched at the Yuehai Enterprise Service (YHES) in Nanshan District on Nov. 9.
CUHK Professor wins world-renowned Falling Walls Science Breakthroughs Award with School Coral Nursery Education Programme
Professor Apple Chui, Research Assistant Professor in the School of Life Sciences at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), has been named the laureate of the prestigious Falling Walls Science Breakthroughs Award in the Science Engagement category for her innovative School Coral Nursery Education Programme. She presents her project at the Falling Walls Science Summit in Berlin on 7 November 2024.
Mayor of Gwangyang, South Korea Visits iMakerbase
To mark the 20th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Shenzhen, China, and Gwangyang, South Korea, Mayor Jeong In-hwa of Gwangyang led a delegation of government officials, business representatives, and innovation organizations to Shenzhen for a friendly exchange.
Shenzhen Polytechnic University Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Durban University of Technology
On November 6, a delegation from DUT, including Vice-Chancellor Professor Folufhelho Nemafohla, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Gugu Mchunu, Director of Research Nomcebo Mtombeni, and Director of the Confucius Institute Wu Lin, visited Shenzhen Polytechnic University. The delegation was warmly received by Vice President Dong Chaojun at the Mingde Building, Room 204. During the meeting, both parties held in-depth discussions about the educational features, development visions, and potential cooperation between the two institutions. The MoU signing ceremony was successfully held afterward.
